'Clutter' your desktop with album artwork

Clutter by Sprote Rsrch.: "Clutter is a small Mac OS X application that lets you put music CDs on your desktop. You can drag them anywhere -- they're really windows. Line them up neatly or put them in piles, it's your choice. Each one looks like the real CD's cover, and double-clicking it tells iTunes"

The recent update of this fun little bit of freeware seems to work quite well - a fun addition if you have lots of songs and album artwork.

Shot in the weeks following the U.S. presidential election, the film tracks the day-to-day challenges facing the 8th Cavalry's Dog Company as it suddenly has to cope with a dramatic increase in attacks by the insurgents."

Consumers Search Before Buying Online

Consumers Search Before Buying Online
: "Roughly half of online shoppers conduct research on a search engine before making an online purchase, according to a study performed by DoubleClick in conjunction with comScore Networks."

While the title of the article comes as no surprise, there are some interesting details about trends in the duration-of-research and terms taken into consideration when leading up to a purchase:

"...According to the report, approximately 77 percent of keyword searches conducted by buyers across all four categories are generic, compared to 23 percent that are brand-only or a branded word plus another item...Overall, the findings challenge popular presumptions that brand-related search queries conducted within a few days of a purchase most directly lead to the online sale. As a result, DoubleClick says it plans to encourage clients to invest more heavily in generic search terms and to do so earlier in the online buying cycle..."

Includes nifty chart too...

A Spike Lee Joint, A Box of Mutants, or Apple's Next Gen OS?

Apple reveals flashy Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger retail packaging

Just kidding, it looks like Apple has decided to do some of its own leaking. The new packaging is interesting, in that Apple's packaging has trended toward two directions: pro and consumer. The black simple packaging used for its pro apps and the white box with freestyle graphics for consumer. This pro treatment of the OS shows that Apple wants the next version of its OS to be taken seriously by all.

Interesting personal site about "The Gates"

Goodexperience.com had a link to this interesting website. From the site: "This is our personal log of our time at The Gates, Central Park. Today we were cut loose by Christo & Jeanne-Claude's official site, with our link removed. It's difficult to know if anyone will be able to find this site without that link, so we might just abandon the effort. We'll continue as long as we continue, to hear from you."

It contains some nice pictures and some QuickTime movies as well.

TrueMajority OREO Video

While this animation is not very new, it seems quite relevant in light of Bush's latest budget. A very interesting perspective presented by Ben Cohen (or cartoon of him that is) that dispels the notion that we don't have enough $ to fund programs that we need. He suggests that we could take a small portion of the huge Pentagon budget to help make our country better.
