Iconix launches e-mail logo authentication solution
"Iconix eMail ID software enables users to display branding icons in their inboxes, allowing e-mail users to isolate e-mail from trustworthy sources rather than from spammers or phishers."
Interesting solution, however the proprietary nature of having this be an add-on vs. something at the vcard or email client level will likely hinder adoption.

Hey J.Y.,
You're right on about the challenge of getting this adopted on a wide scale. Ideally, we want to be a ubiquitous service for email identity just like Verisign is a CA for web identity. A blogged about that a while back.
We've actually talked to the top ISP's about the solution and here's something interesting ... none of them currently want to highlight some emails as being more trustable than other emails. They were all trying to preserve a perception that everything in your inbox is good.
So far our early usability tests and beta test have been positive. If we can really prove ourselves at helping people to avoid email fraud then we think we have a chance for heavyweight adoption down the road.

Thanks for your response. I'm looking forward to seeing this port to the other apps as announced: Apple mail etc.
You probably know about the mythical man month but at least Hotmail will be on time -- one week from now! (9/29/2005) Catch you later on the Apple mail release :-)
