I personally think that Davis is an iconic figure in terms of representing the blurring of traditional distinctions between 'designer' and 'developer'. His pioneering combination of visual and technical design skills represent a new hybrid 'designer' that has been emerging over the past number of years. This trend certainly has been raising the bar for folks on both sides of the fence, and has made it harder for people to craft accurate job descriptions ;)
