Industrial Design Smackdown, a theme of '05?

It's apparent that some gadget makers finally get it. ID is driving interesting competition out there. Here are a few recent examples: asono mica another iPod shuffle competitor. And this was unexpected - The Tulip ego appears to be a recast of Apple's 1999 clamshell iBook design, but with a full commitment to looking exactly like a purse (offered in different patterns too).
